About the position
Description/Synopsys:
The Finance Manager – Sales and Marketing provides strategic and operational finance support to the Sales and Marketing division, including depots and log yards. This commercially focused role partners closely with Sales, Operations and Supply Chain to drive profitability, pricing discipline and informed decision-making across the business.
The role plays a key part in improving margin performance, forecasting accuracy and commercial visibility through strong analysis, reporting and stakeholder engagement. The Finance Manager translates complex sales and operational data into clear, actionable insights to support pricing decisions, export contracts and growth initiatives.
The role is office based in Isando, with regular travel to operational sites required to build strong commercial understanding and stakeholder alignment. This position suits a resilient, adaptable and hands-on finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
Minimum Requirements:
- CA(SA), CIMA or BCom Accounting with articles
- Five to seven years post-articles financial management experience
- Proven experience in a commercially focused finance role
- Background in agriculture, forestry, commodity manufacturing, logistics or asset-heavy environments
- Solid understanding of exports and international trade
- Strong experience in sales analysis, margin management and budgeting
- ERP systems experience essential, D365 advantageous
- Willingness to travel regularly between national operational site
Responsibilities:
- Act as a trusted commercial finance partner to Sales and Marketing leadership
- Deliver detailed sales, margin and profitability analysis by product, customer, region and segment
- Support pricing decisions, customer strategy and product mix optimisation
- Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts and variance analysis with clear financial narratives
- Develop and maintain commercial dashboards and reporting using Excel and Power BI
- Support export contracts and identify margin improvement and cost-saving opportunities
- Improve forecasting accuracy and commercial visibility for decision makers
- Manage and support ERP finance modules, ensuring data accuracy and process improvement
- Ensure effective inventory, cost and margin management across depots and operations
- Build strong working relationships with operational teams through regular site engagement
- Lead and mentor finance staff, driving accountability and performance
