About the position
An established and growing group operating within the B-BBEE consulting, skills development, and SETA-accredited training sector is seeking a highly competent Finance Manager - Group to lead the full financial function across multiple entities.
This role requires a hands-on finance professional with strong multi-entity accounting experience, strict statutory compliance capability, and the commercial acumen to support strategic growth and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Full finance function across multiple legal entities
- Monthly management accounts, cash flow forecasting, and variance analysis
- Preparation of consolidated/group financial statements
- Budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning aligned to operational targets
- Oversight of general ledger, journals, accruals, and reconciliations
Compliance & Statutory Reporting
- Ensure compliance with:
- SARS (VAT, PAYE, Income Tax)
- Companies Act and CIPC requirements
- IFRS for SMEs
- Maintain strong financial governance and internal controls across entities
- Oversee financial compliance relating to:
- Training contracts and learnership funding
- Skills development projects and cost allocations
- Revenue recognition for training programmes
- Cost tracking per project, learner, and SETA contract
Cash Flow & Treasury
- Cash flow management across group entities
- Payments, supplier management, and creditor controls
- Debtors' management, invoicing, and collections
- Manage banking relationships and payment platforms
Team & Systems Management
- Manage and mentor finance team members (accountants, clerks, payroll)
- Maintain and optimise accounting systems (Xero, Join, Payspace or similar)
- Implement and improve financial policies, procedures, and controls
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- BCom Accounting or Financial Management (essential)
- Professional qualification advantageous (CIMA, ACCA, SAIPA or similar)
Experience
- 5-8+ years' finance experience
- Minimum 3+ years in a Finance Manager or Senior Accountant role
- Experience in any of the following sectors advantageous:
- SETA-accredited training providers
- Skills development / learnership environment
- B-BBEE consulting or advisory
Technical Expertise
- Strong knowledge of IFRS for SMEs
- Solid understanding of SARS tax compliance
- Knowledge of SETA funding models and reporting
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience with Xero or similar accounting systems
