About the position

Main Job Purpose:
To lead and manage the organisation’s financial operations, ensuring the delivery of sound financial planning, compliance, financial risk management, and strategic insights to achieve organisational objectives.
 
Minimum Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing or a related field.
  • Registered with a Professional Certification body: CPA, CA or CIMA

 
Minimum Desired Experience

  • At least 7-10 years of experience in financial management, with a proven track record of leadership.
  • Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Familiarity with South African financial regulations and tax laws.

 
Minimum Desired Competencies

  • Strategic thinking and financial acumen.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving and Reporting skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel functionality.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

List of Duties and Responsibilities:
 
Financial Strategy and Planning

  • Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with organisational goals.
  • Prepare long-term financial forecasts and scenario planning.
  • Monitor financial trends and provide strategic insights to leadership.
  • Manage the organisations overall financial risk appetite.


Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Lead the preparation of annual budgets, periodic financial forecasts and reporting.
  • Analyse variances between actual and budgeted figures, providing explanations and corrective actions.

 
Financial Management

  • Oversee financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash flow and credit (debt exposure) management.
  • Manage working capital to optimise liquidity.
  • Manage Rebates from vendors.

 
Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards (e.g., tax laws, financial reporting standards).
  • Identify financial risks and implement risk mitigation strategies.

 
Reporting

  • Oversee financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash flow management.
  • Manage working capital to optimise liquidity.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly operational performance reports for the Managing Director and other Meetings.
  • Track key metrics, such as project timelines, service quality, and resource utilisation.
  • Provide insights on operational trends and areas for improvement.

 
Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure financial policies and practices are effectively implemented.

 
Stakeholder Management:
