About the position

Our client is a well-established manufacturing company located in Cape Town, Black Heath Industria, with over 35 years of industry experience. As they continue to grow, they are seeking a dynamic and highly qualified Financial Manager/Accountant to join their dedicated team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining their high standards of compliance, accuracy, and efficiency in financial management. Location: Cape Town, Black Heath Industria

Qualifications:

  • Matric with Maths and Accounting HG
  • BCom/BCompt degree
  • SAIPA qualification
  • Completed Articles and/or audit experience (advantageous)
  • Tax practitioner with current knowledge (advantageous)
  • Commissioner of Oaths preferable

Other Requirements:

  • Highly intelligent and a problem solver
  • Quick to train and grasp concepts
  • 10 years accounting experience (5 years in staff management and team collaboration)
  • Emotionally intelligent with effective communication skills (Afrikaans and English)
  • Professional written English for supplier and customer communication

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong accounting skills
  • Current knowledge and experience with SARS E-Filing, Vat returns, payroll processing, etc.
  • Injury on Duty and claims process with Dept of Labour
  • Audit review and preparation
  • Debt collection, creditor recons, stock control, cash flow forecasts
  • Project management
  • Basic/working IT knowledge

Management Responsibilities:

  • Oversee debtors, debt collection, creditors, stock control, cash flows, statutory returns, and payroll
  • Manage a team of 5 admin staff (2 bookkeepers, accounts clerk, receptionist, payroll & accounts administrator)

Reporting Responsibilities:

  • Weekly and monthly sales reports and stats
  • Weekly stock reports, transport calcs, cash recons, etc.
  • Weekly payroll for multiple companies
  • Monthly commissions
  • Month-end management accounts
  • Quarterly reports

Company Environment:

  • Stable and mature company in existence for 35 years
  • Emphasis on high compliance and accuracy
  • Fast-paced, busy environment with high volumes
  • Limited requirement for overtime (exception during audit prep and shutdown months)

  • BIC Reports in Pastel (preferable)
  • Pastel Payroll Partner
  • SARS Efiling (including EMP201, VAT201, etc.)
  • SARS Easyfile
  • Microsoft Office - intermediate level (pivot-tables, V-Lookup, linking formulas)
  • FNB Online Banking (business use) will be an advantage

Remuneration: Commensurate based on qualification(s) and experience
