About the position

FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN
Location: Rosslyn, Pretoria

NON-NEGOTIABLE REQUIREMENTS:
- 3–5 years’ automotive experience.
- Injection moulding essential.
- Hot runner systems essential.

ROLE OVERVIEW: 
A hands-on Field Service Technician role for a highly skilled automotive specialist with strong injection mould and hot runner experience.
The position involves travelling to customer sites to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and support complex mould and hot runner systems, ensuring optimal performance in a fast-paced production environment.

Minimum requirements:

  • Mechanical/Electrical Qualification, OR Qualified Artisan (Toolmaker, Millwright, Mechanical or Electrical Technician).
  • Mold Maker Certificate of Qualification will be an advantage.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in a field service role within an automotive component manufacturing environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of hot runner systems, including manifolds, nozzles, and valve gate assemblies.
  • Proven ability to perform hands-on servicing, maintenance, and repair of moulds and hot runner systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical/mechanical schematics.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting ability in a customer-facing environment.
  • Valid Code 08 driver’s licence.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide field-based technical support for moulds and hot runner systems at customer sites.
  • Manage installations, commissioning, start-ups, and customer buy-offs of equipment.
  • Travel to customer sites to install, integrate, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repair work on hot runner systems, including internal mechanical and electrical components.
  • Conduct factory testing of moulds and hot runner systems before dispatch.
  • Diagnose and resolve equipment failures under production and shutdown conditions.
  • Deliver professional technical support and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Ensure all work is completed according to technical standards, safety requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve complex technical issues and improve service delivery.
