About the position
ROLE SUMMARY
The Sales Representative is responsible for driving revenue growth by promoting and selling the company's products and solutions within an assigned territory or customer portfolio. The role focuses on acquiring new customers, maintaining strong relationships with existing clients, achieving sales targets, and ensuring accurate forecasting and reporting. The Sales Representative acts as a key ambassador of the business, ensuring customer satisfaction while operating in line with company policies, pricing structures, and compliance requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales & Business Development
- Achieve individual sales targets (volume, value, margin) in line with agreed budgets.
- Identify, engage, and develop new business opportunities within the assigned territory.
- Maintain and grow relationships with existing customers to ensure repeat business and retention.
- Prepare, present, and follow up on quotations in line with approved pricing and discount frameworks.
- Discuss within delegated authority and escalate deviations for approval where required.
Customer Relationship Management
- Build strong, professional relationships with customers at all levels.
- Conduct regular customer visits and sales calls as per agreed call cycles.
- Address customer queries, complaints, and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Act as the primary point of contact between the customer and internal departments.
Sales Administration & Reporting
- Maintain accurate customer, opportunity, and sales data on the ERP / CRM system.
- Provide regular sales forecasts and pipeline updates.
- Submit weekly and monthly sales/pipeline reports as required by management.
- Monitor outstanding quotations, orders, deliveries, and payments.
Internal Coordination
- Support credit control efforts by assisting with customer payment follow-ups where required.
- Ensure all sales activities comply with internal policies, contractual terms, and ethical standards.
Market & Product Knowledge
- Maintain thorough knowledge of products, applications, and competitive offerings.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback, and report insights to management.
- Participate in training, product launches, and sales meetings as required.
KEY COMPETENCIES, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications
- Grade 12 / Matric (mandatory).
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Sales, Marketing, or Business (advantageous).
Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a sales role, preferably within a construction-related environment.
- Proven experience in achieving and exceeding sales targets.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Customer-focused with strong relationship-building ability.
- Good commercial awareness and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience working with ERP / CRM systems (e.g. SAP, Sage, Syspro) is advantageous.
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel.

***Salary - R23,000.00 - R30,000.00 + Commission (Negotiable further , based on skills, experience and in relation to current package)
