About the position
A well - established Company in Gauteng looking for a highly skilled and motivated Fibre Optic Technician to join their team. If you have extensive experience in fibre installation, splicing, testing, and fault resolution across various network architectures, please apply.
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum 2/3+ years proven experience as a Fibre Optic Technician.
- Certification: FOA (Fibre Optic Association) Certification required.
- Technical Expertise:
- Fusion splicing and OTDR testing (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer).
- Working on Long Haul, Access Builds, FTTB, FTTH, GPON, and FTTS networks.
- Advanced fault finding and fibre infrastructure tracing.
- Infrastructure Knowledge: Experience with DFA (Dark Fibre Africa) infrastructure highly advantageous.
- Mobility: Valid Driver’s Licence with a strong driving record.
- Work Style: Self-managed, able to work independently, prioritise tasks, and deliver high-quality work within deadlines.
Core Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality fusion splicing and termination of fibre optic cables.
- Conduct and interpret OTDR, Power Meter, and Loss Testing results.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair faults on live fibre networks with minimal disruption.
- Manage, maintain, and ensure availability of all fibre tools and equipment.
- Complete project documentation, reports, and sign-offs accurately and on time.
Additional (Optional) Requirements
- Relevant Health & Safety Certificates (e.g., Working at Heights, First Aid, SHE Rep) will be an advantage.
