About the position
A well-established international company specialising in the manufacturing and distribution of various world-class agricultural products requires the above to play a critical role in the fermentation production process, ensuring efficient production of microbial products.
Minimum requirements for the role:
- Minimum matric is essential for this role.
- A degree or diploma in microbiology, biotechnology, or a related field would be an advantage but is not essential.
- Previous experience working within a production environment is pref.
- Previous hands-on experience having worked in fermentation or microbial production is preferred but not essential.
- Familiarity with bioreactors, pumps, control systems, and basic laboratory equipment is preferred but not essential.
- Must have a basic understanding of microbiology or a willingness to learn will be an advantage.
- Must have strong attention to detail and accuracy in measuring and handling materials.
- Mechanical aptitude for equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Must be able to work in a sterile environment and follow strict hygiene protocols.
- Must have good organizational and record-keeping skills.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Playing a critical role in the fermentation process, ensuring efficient production of microbial products.
- Operating and monitoring equipment to cultivate microbial products, ensuring optimal growth conditions and adherence to production protocols.
- Performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting equipment to ensure operational efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the factory maintenance, adhering to safety and hygiene standards.
- Tracking and managing raw material stock, ensuring adequate supply levels and accurate record-keeping.
- Communicating with production supervisors and ensure protocols are being applied in each department.
- Compiling weekly reports on production, operations and maintenance updates.
- Applying or developing knowledge of basic microbiology principles to support production processes and ensure product quality.
- Preparing fermentation equipment, media, and raw materials according to established sops and batch production records.
- Troubleshooting fermentation systems, identifying issues such as contamination or deviations in process parameters, and escalating as needed.
