FACTORY ELECTRICIAN (FMCG)
Area: Montaque gardens, Cape Town
Salary Package: Basic Salary Negotiable depending on experience plus benefits
Overview:
An experienced electrician with strong fault-finding ability and experience in maintaining low-voltage (high amp), high-demand industrial equipment in a production environment, ensuring the reliability of plant equipment and minimising production downtime.
Duties:
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on plant electrical systems and equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults on industrial machinery to minimise production downtime.
- Maintain electrical infrastructure including power distribution systems, generators, and control panels as well as boilers.
- Inspect and maintain three-phase electrical systems, motors, soft starters, and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
- Conduct diagnostics using testing equipment
- Support electrical installations, upgrades, and machine modifications.
- Liaise with approved suppliers to obtain quotations and coordinate repairs when required.
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety and environmental regulations, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Assist with production changeovers and plant maintenance activities.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Matric or equivalent Certificate
- NQF Level 4 Electrical Qualification
- Trade Tested Electrician
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Experience working with industrial machinery and high-demand electrical systems
- Experience with three-phase electrical systems, motor control systems, VFDs, and soft starters
- PLC exposure or automation experience will be advantageous
- Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work independently and respond to breakdowns in a production environment
