Effluent Treatment Plant Operations:
- Chemical Dosing & Solution Preparation:
- Ensure the correct preparation and mixing of chemical solutions for the effluent treatment process. This includes:
- Hydrochloric Acid Tank:Prepare solution by adding hydrochloric acid to water when levels drop to 50%, mix thoroughly.
- Sodium Metabisulphite Tank:Add sodium metabisulphite to water, ensuring the ORP value is below 280mV.
- Caustic Soda Flakes Tank:Prepare the solution by adding caustic soda flakes and sodium carbonate, and mix thoroughly.
- Flocculant Tank:Add flocbuilder PA 911 to water and mix thoroughly.
- Coagulant Tank:Add flocbuilder COAS to water and mix thoroughly.
- Tank & Process Management:
- Monitor and operate the various effluent treatment tanks, ensuring the correct chemical reactions and parameters are maintained at all times:
- Tank 1 (Chromium Treatment):Manage the chromium reduction process (Cr 6 to Cr 3) using sodium metabisulphite. Ensure the pH remains below 3, and ORP is between 250-300mV.
- Tank 2 (Buffer Tank):Manage pH levels and ORP to allow for proper reaction time, with the pH below 3 and ORP between 250-300mV.
- Tank 3 (Neutralization):Monitor the neutralisation process of effluent by dosing caustic soda to increase pH to 8.5-10, ensuring proper flocculant dosing and sludge formation.
- Clarification & Precipitation:
- Oversee the clarification process, ensuring the treated effluent overflows into the clarifier for solids precipitation.
- Take daily samples from the clarifier to test pH levels and submit them for analysis as per plant protocols.
- Testing & Compliance:
- Conduct daily testing of effluent quality, ensuring the pH is within acceptable ranges (pH 5.5-12 in the clarifier).
- Prepare and document all test results for internal and external (municipal) analysis.
- Preventative & Corrective Maintenance:
Perform regular maintenance tasks on the effluent treatment equipment, including cleaning of electrodes, calibration, and the upkeep of dosing systems.
