A leading organisation is seeking an experienced Facilities & Infrastructure Manager to oversee its facilities, infrastructure and property-related operations.
This is a senior operational management role requiring a strong combination of facilities management, infrastructure, construction project management, technical knowledge, procurement and budget management. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that facilities and infrastructure are effectively maintained, compliant, safe and fit for purpose across multiple sites.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage facilities and infrastructure operations, including security, cleaning, gardening and general building services.
- Oversee facilities and infrastructure across multiple sites nationally.
- Manage major and minor construction, renovation and infrastructure projects from planning through to completion.
- Prepare and manage tender specifications and participate in the procurement and bid processes.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts and expenditure, ensuring projects are delivered within approved budgets.
- Identify and communicate potential budget overruns and project risks at an early stage.
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment and related facilities.
- Manage the installation and development of specialised facilities and laboratories, ensuring that required building, occupational health and accreditation standards are met.
- Ensure that air conditioning, heating, ventilation, lighting and related building systems are properly maintained and operational.
- Ensure all building and facilities compliance requirements are maintained and up to date.
- Develop, implement and maintain relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and other applicable legislation.
- Provide effective business support to the organisation on facilities and infrastructure matters.
- Manage facilities-related contractors and service providers.
- Oversee vehicle fleet management, staff relocations and moves, and accommodation facilities.
- Lead, manage and develop the facilities team.
REQUIREMENTS- A 3-year Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Property Management, Construction Science, Architecture or a related field at NQF Level 6.
- A Project Management qualification/certificate will be advantageous.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Minimum 8 years' experience in Facilities Management.
- At least 2 years' experience in infrastructure-related functions.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a supervisory or management role.
- Proven experience managing a facilities team, preferably within a large or complex service organisation.
- Experience in procurement processes and financial/budget management.
- Strong understanding of the building and construction environment, including plans, estimates, costing and materials.
- Knowledge of OHSA and relevant legislation.
- Knowledge of building services and equipment, including generators, UPS systems and workshop machinery.
- Strong technical, analytical, planning and problem-solving skills.
- Good negotiation, communication and stakeholder-management abilities.
- Computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with various stakeholders.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORThe ideal candidate will be more than a traditional facilities administrator. We are looking for a hands-on facilities and infrastructure professional who is comfortable managing technical facilities, construction and renovation projects, contractors, budgets, compliance and teams.
