About the position

We are looking for a Programme Facilitator to deliver high-quality, student-centred teaching and academic support to students enrolled in Industrial Psychology undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications within the School of Psychology. The successful candidate will facilitate modules across key applied areas of Industrial Psychology, including organisational behaviour, workplace motivation, human resource management, employee wellbeing, and related disciplines. The role requires a commitment to fostering foundational psychological knowledge, critical thinking, academic excellence, and the development of professional competencies that prepare students for success in the workplace and further academic pursuits.
Learning and Teaching

  • Facilitate disciplinary knowledge and applied understanding in Industrial Psychology any related fields, aligned with curriculum and module outcomes.
  • Develop facilitation plans and interactive leaming activities that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and workplace application of theory.
  • Integrate organisationally relevant case studies that reflect diverse workplace realities, including issues of inequality, identity, and power.
  • Apply inclusive and innovative pedagogical approaches to support active student engagement in both contact and online environments.
  • Promote collaborative learning, reflexivity, and ethical reasoning in understanding workplace dynamics.
  • Embed principles of epistemic justice by recognising diverse knowledge systems and lived experiences within organisational contexts.

Student Support and Mentorship

  • Provide academic mentorship to undergraduate and postgraduate students in Industrial Psychology.
  • Support students in navigating academic, professional, and career development pathways within the field.
  • Monitor student progress and provide timely, constructive, and developmental feedback.
  • Identify and respond to learning challenges, particularly those shaped by structural and contextual inequalities.
  • Facilitate consultations, group engagements, and online support platforms to enhance student success.

Curriculum Development

  • Collaborate in the design, review, and enhancement of Industrial Psychology curricula in alignment with NQF standards and accreditation requirements.
  • Ensure curriculum content reflects contemporary organisational challenges such as transformation, diversity, employee wellbeing, and future-of-work dynamics.
  • Develop assessments aligned with assessment for learning, of leaming, and as learning, supporting critical and applied competencies.
  • Ensure contentis inclusive, contextually relevant, and responsive to South African and global workplace realities.

Academic Administration

  • Maintain accurate academic records, including attendance, assessments, and student performance.
  • Participate in moderation, academic meetings, and institutional processes.
  • Engage in industry and community partnerships to enhance applied learning opportunities.
  • Use student data analytically to inform teaching practices and improve student success.
  • Support academic leadership with administrative and programme-related tasks.

Professional Development and Research

  • Stay current with developments in Industrial and Organisational Psychology, including workplace trends and policy shifts.
  • Participate in professional development activities, conferences, and training initiatives.
  • Engage in research aligned with organisational psychology, workplace transformation, and employee wellbeing.
  • Supervise postgraduate research and contribute to scholarly publications.
  • Progress towards completion of a PhD (if not already obtained).

Quality Assurance

  • Uphold institutional policies, academic integrity, and ethical standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in teaching, learning, and assessment practices.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional quality assurance frameworks.
  • Prepare and submit academic reports, evaluations, and performance summaries.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • A Master's degree in Industrial/Organisational Psychology or related field.
  • A PhD in Psychology or current PhD registration will be advantageous.
  • Registration with the HPCSA (where applicable) or relevant professional body.
  • Minimum of three years’ teaching experience in Industrial or Organisational Psychology.

  • Strong knowledge of Industrial Psychology curriculum design and assessment.
  • Ability to facilitate inclusive, student-centred, and contextually relevant leaming.
  • Strong understanding of workplace dynamics, organisational systems, and employee behaviour.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in digital learning platforms and educational technologies.
  • Strong organisational, planning, and project management skills.
  • Commitment to ethical, socially responsive, and reflective practice.
  • Advanced computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
