About the position
A well-established company based in Johannesburg is seeking an external sales representative to join their Cape Town branch.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: 3–5 years proven external sales experience, preferably in hardware, industrial, or FMCG environments.
- Education: Minimum Matric (National Senior Certificate); sales or business-related qualification advantageous.
- Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license (own reliable transport preferred/required).
- Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Highly self-motivated, target-driven and able to work independently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce).
Key Responsibilities
- Business Development: Actively prospect, cold call and secure new customers to grow market share.
- Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients through regular visits and service excellence.
- Sales Presentations: Conduct face-to-face meetings and product demonstrations, highlighting features and value.
- Negotiation & Closing: Negotiate pricing, terms and contracts to secure profitable deals and meet sales targets.
- Market Intelligence: Monitor competitor activity and industry trends to support sales strategy.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate CRM records of leads, visits and pipeline activity and submit regular sales reports.
- Contribute to management reporting on stock movement, cash flow and cost control where required.
