About the position

Sales Consultant

Location: Durban
Level: Junior Management
Reports to: Branch Manager

A leading catering equipment company based is seeking a driven and customer-focused Sales Consultant to join their team. This role is ideal for an experienced sales professional with strong industry knowledge and a passion for building long-term client relationships while achieving sales targets.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Revenue Growth

  • Achieve and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets
  • Generate new client accounts within defined periods
  • Conduct cold calling, sales presentations, negotiations, upselling, and cross-selling
  • Increase average deal value and maximise revenue from existing clients

Order & Sales Administration

  • Manage quotes, order processing, and follow-through until payment is completed
  • Process returns and credit notes according to company procedures
  • Ensure shipment dates are updated and communicated accurately
  • Compile weekly and monthly sales reports against targets

Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients
  • Understand and manage client expectations to enhance customer experience
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date customer database
  • Provide excellent pre- and post-sales service
  • Escalate client complaints to the appropriate manager

Product Knowledge & Promotion

  • Maintain thorough knowledge of catering equipment products and services
  • Accurately recommend tailored solutions to meet customer needs
  • Stay informed on market trends, competitors, and pricing strategies

Team Collaboration

  • Provide professional administrative and quotation support to the sales team
  • Participate in internal meetings, sales briefings, and product training sessions

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent
  • 3-5 years' experience in a sales role
  • Experience in an industrial environment
  • Hospitality industry experience (advantageous)
  • Knowledge of catering equipment (advantageous)
  • Syspro knowledge (advantageous)
  • Proven stakeholder management experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • Strong administrative and business writing skills
  • Valid driver's licence and own reliable transport
