About the position
Our client in the mining and industrial sector is seeking a skilled and proactive External Marketing & Communications Specialist. This role supports the execution of the external marketing and communications strategy, focusing on brand positioning, stakeholder engagement, campaign delivery, and digital visibility. The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Key Responsibilities
- Support implementation of the unit operational plan by monitoring activities, performance measures, and stakeholder communication.
- Track and report on performance against targets, highlighting risks and providing clear quarterly and ad hoc reports.
- Ensure compliance with organisational policies, procedures, and SHE requirements.
- Support and execute the external communications strategy, ensuring consistent messaging aligned to organisational objectives and industry trends.
- Draft and distribute external communication releases for various audiences.
- Create and manage content for social media, websites, and digital platforms to drive engagement and brand visibility.
- Coordinate external events, conferences, sponsorships, and industry engagements in line with strategic priorities.
- Support brand management by ensuring consistent application of corporate identity and branded materials.
- Assist with advertising and marketing campaigns across digital and traditional channels, including media planning and execution.
- Monitor and report on campaign performance and return on investment, recommending improvements where necessary.
- Liaise with external agencies, media partners, service providers, and industry stakeholders.
- Utilise digital marketing, analytics, and AI-driven tools to enhance campaign effectiveness and decision-making.
- Assist with departmental budgeting and monitor expenditure in line with approved financial controls.
- Contribute to sustainability initiatives by ensuring marketing activities align with sustainability principles.
- Actively support team collaboration and contribute to a positive, high-performing team environment.
Requirements
- BCom / BA in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or similar qualification
- Valid driver's license.
- 5+ years' experience in marketing and communications roles.
- Proven B2B marketing and stakeholder communication experience.
- Knowledge of the mining or industrial sector.
- Proficiency in SAP, MS Office, digital marketing tools, analytics platforms, and basic graphic design tools.
- Experience with AI-driven and digital marketing automation tools.
- Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management or similar (advantageous).
