About the position
Purpose:
The Junior Exports Manager will be responsible for assisting in the coordination, management, and growth of export operations for the company's edible oils product range. The role will focus on ensuring smooth export processes, compliance with international trade regulations, developing customer relationships, and supporting the achievement of export sales targets.
Role reports to the Exports Manager and Sales Director
Responsibilities:
Export Operations and Logistics:
- Assist with the full export cycle, including order processing, documentation, shipping arrangements, and customs clearance
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, shipping lines, clearing agents, and transporters
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of export documentation (invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, phytosanitary/health certificates, export permits, etc.)
- Track shipments and resolve any logistics challenges or delays.
Compliance and Quality:
- Ensure all exports comply with international trade laws, regulations, and food safety standards
- Work closely with Quality Assurance to ensure product quality and export certifications are in place
- Monitor compliance with customer requirements, including packaging, labelling, and export country regulations
Customer Service and Relationship Management:
- Act as a point of contact for international customers and distributors
- Support in handling customer queries, complaints, and after-sales follow-up
- Assist in building and maintaining long-term customer relationships in existing and new export markets
Sales Support and Market Development:
- Support the Exports Manager in identifying and developing new export markets and opportunities
- Assist with pricing, quotations, and tender submissions for international customers
- Prepare and analyse export sales reports to track performance and trends
Administration and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of export transactions, contracts, and agreements
- Prepare weekly/monthly reports on exports, shipments, sales figures, and market insights
- Provide administrative support to the Exports Manager as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree / Diploma in International Trade, Logistics, Supply Chain, Marketing, or a related field
- 3 years' experience in exports/logistics/supply chain, preferably in the FMCG or manufacturing industry (edible oils or food sector)
- Knowledge of Incoterms, customs regulations, and export documentation essential
- Experience working with freight forwarders, clearing agents, and shipping lines is beneficial
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Detail-oriented with strong administrative and reporting skills
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ERP systems
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Problem-solving and analytical skills
- Willingness to learn and grow into a senior exports management role
- Proactive, self-motivated, and eager to learn
- Team player with the ability to work across departments (sales, production, QA, logistics)
