About the position
We are looking for an experienced Export Sales Representative to develop and grow its customer base across international markets.
This is a commercially focused role requiring a strong combination of sales development, account management, electrical product knowledge and export process experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for growing existing accounts, identifying new market opportunities and managing export activities from enquiry and quotation through to delivery.
The position requires regular international travel, including extensive travel into Africa, with approximately 4-6 countries visited per quarter.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and grow customer relationships across assigned international markets.
- Identify potential new customers and market opportunities.
- Conduct regular customer visits across assigned countries.
- Manage customer enquiries and compile quotations and tenders.
- Follow up on quotations, tenders and commercial opportunities.
- Develop market and sales plans aimed at achieving sales targets and increasing market presence.
- Drive product approvals with utilities within assigned territories.
- Manage invoicing, transport arrangements and relevant export documentation.
- Arrange tender costing using relevant Incoterms, including FOB and CIF.
- Coordinate orders with local and international suppliers.
- Support import and export purchasing requirements.
- Liaise effectively with customers, suppliers, internal teams and branches.
- Prepare monthly reports covering sales successes, challenges, opportunities and forward plans.
- Assist with stock and product-related queries where required.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Minimum 2 years' sales experience with an electrical industry background.
- Strong working knowledge of electrical products, particularly: Overhead Line (OHL), Low Voltage (LV), Cable
- Knowledge of:Incoterms, Letters of Credit, Customs clearance, Tariff headings, Duties, SADC Certificates
- Import/export purchasing experience would be advantageous.
- Willing and able to travel extensively into Africa
- Strong commercial and customer relationship skills.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication.
- Strong negotiation and persuasion skills.
- Good planning and organisational ability.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Computer literacy including Excel, Google Sheets/Docs, MS Word and email.
