Expat Finance Manager
Location: Nairobi, Kenya / Midrand, South Africa (depending on placement structure)
Overview
An established international business with operations across East Africa is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead the finance function and support strategic decision-making across the region.
The successful candidate will oversee financial management, reporting, compliance, and financial strategy while working closely with executive leadership to ensure the financial health and growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities
Finance Leadership
- Lead and manage the Finance Department, reporting to the Managing Director / General Manager and Group Finance Director.
- Build, lead, and develop the finance team.
- Oversee all corporate accounting and finance functions.
Financial Reporting & Management
- Prepare and present monthly management accounts and reports.
- Analyse and communicate significant financial variances.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management.
- Prepare and coordinate the annual budgeting and monthly forecasting process.
- Review and sign off on annual financial statements.
Strategic & Executive Support
- Participate in EXCO meetings and contribute to strategic decision-making.
- Conduct financial analysis and trend identification to optimise profitability and cost efficiency.
- Support pricing strategies, cost management, and profitability analysis.
- Develop long-term financial plans for East African operations.
Compliance, Risk & Governance
- Ensure the business operates within the legal and regulatory frameworks of the operating countries.
- Ensure tax compliance and manage interactions with tax authorities.
- Coordinate external audits and financial reviews.
- Develop and implement internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks, including currency fluctuations and market volatility.
Operational Financial Management
- Manage weekly and monthly cash flow.
- Oversee banking relationships and foreign exchange transactions.
- Manage currency hedging strategies where applicable.
- Ensure accurate financial record keeping and documentation.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Support financial systems including Sage and group-shared IT systems.
- Coordinate with IT on financial software issues.
- Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Ensure data integrity and cybersecurity compliance within financial systems.
Additional Oversight
- Oversee HR and payroll functions.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial goals align with overall business objectives.
Salary & Placement Options
Option 1 - Expatriate Candidate (Relocating to Kenya)
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Package Includes:
- Gross monthly salary: KES 575,000 (± R74,000)

Option 3 - South Africa Based Candidate (Travel Role)
Location: Midrand, South Africa / Nairobi, Kenya
Package:

- No medical aid
- Travel between South Africa and Kenya, typically 2-3 months at a time, particularly during audit periods.
