About the position
Our client, a global leader in the mining industry, is looking for an experienced Human Resources Superintendent to lead HR operations at their Smelter plant in the DRC. This is a key expat role overseeing end-to-end HR delivery, workforce planning, compliance, and people leadership in a high-performance environment.
Requirements:
- Degree in HR, Labour Science, or related field
- 8–10 years’ senior HR experience in mining/heavy industry (Smelter experience preferred)
- Strong knowledge of DRC labour legislation and community dynamics
- Fluent in English (French, Mandarin, or Swahili is a plus)
- Strong leadership, cultural sensitivity, and problem-solving skills
- Must have a laptop, printer, and own vehicle
Key Focus Areas:
- Lead and align all HR operations with labour law, site requirements, and company values
- Develop and execute recruitment and labour plans
- Manage labour budgets, remuneration decisions, and reporting
- Oversee leave, time & attendance systems, and digital HR transitions
- Handle employee movements: promotions, demotions, transfers, and exits
- Build strong stakeholder relationships and lead a team of HR professionals
- Ensure compliance with HSEQ and support transformation initiatives
