About the position
The position serves as the delegated Information Officer of the company in line with the Data Privacy laws providing strategic leadership and influence and integrate digital knowledge, technologies and skills into enabling policies, flexible architectures and meaningful actions in order to empower the organisation to manage information as a strategic asset
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide strategic leadership in the conceptualisation, implementation, and operationalisation of Digital Solutions as part of the development and implementation of the broader Digital Transformation Strategy
- Develop, Implement and Maintain the ICT Strategy of the company as an enabler of the Digital Transformation strategy and ultimately the organisational strategy (Statutory requirement)
- Continue the robust discourse with international counterparts i.e. OA2020, MPDL, Plan S, cOAlition S, on critical issues such as the equitable costing model for article processing changes, responsible research assessment and incentives.
- Collaborate closely with south African entities responsible for the development of policy for Open Science and Open Access
- Participate in and support continental initiatives through the AOSP and SGCIs Lead the drive towards creating a stable and scalable African Open Science platform (AOSP) on the African continent in the achievement of its original vision and mission by engaging with key stakeholders like TENET, SANReN etc.
- Operationalise departmental business plans, through delegation and empowerment.
- Ensure that the information management suite of policies are reviewed and embody best practice while proactively protecting information as a strategic asset
- Execute the duties of the Information Officer as set out in POPIA and PAIA
- Envision and deliver technology infrastructure, solutions and services that meet the organisational wide knowledge and information management needs
- Review and update the Records and Information management strategy of the company as it aligned with the National Archives Act of Southy Africa (NARSSA) and the National Heritage Resources Act.
- Drive, maintain, and facilitate a sound technology standardization program for the company, that promotes effective and efficient operational systems and services in line with the ICT strategy and vision in support of the broader organisational objectives.
- Integrate the ICT and information management strategies across the organisation enabling the building of intelligent, integrated system and tools that support digital transformation strategy.
- Lead and manage relationships with the organisation s strategic partners to advance the company mandate
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Qualification:
- Masters degree in Information and Communication Technology or related field (NQF 9).
- Data or Information or Cyber Security Certification e.g. CISM or CISSP or CDMP or CDPSE is advantageous
- 10 years experience in ICT and management of information of which 5 years in management of technology.
