Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Estimator to join our team, specializing in medium voltage (MV) switchgear systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical projects, ensuring alignment with project scopes, budgets, and timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare precise cost estimates for electrical projects, with a focus on MV switchgear systems.
- Review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and tender documents to define project scope.
- Calculate required materials, labor, and subcontractor/supplier contributions.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and suppliers to gather essential project data.
- Identify project risks, scope variations, and compliance requirements from tender documentation.
- Compile and submit detailed and compliant tender documents.
- Maintain and update cost databases, including labor rates, material prices, and supplier costs.
- Attend pre-tender meetings and site visits as necessary.
- Present cost estimates and proposals to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure all estimates meet profitability targets and budgetary constraints.
Required Skills and Competencies
- In-depth technical knowledge of MV switchgear systems and installation practices.
- Familiarity with LV and other electrical equipment is an advantage.
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical specifications.
- Proven skills in cost estimation and pricing accuracy.
- Proficient in estimation software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to identify potential scope changes and risks.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet strict deadlines.
- Strong commercial acumen to ensure project profitability.
- Effective communicator and collaborator across technical and project teams.
- Capable of interpreting contract conditions and producing comprehensive tender submissions.

Qualifications and Experience
- Electrical Trade Test with N4 Electrical Certificate.
- N6 Diploma or BTech in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in estimation and electrical projects.
- Hands-on experience in the electrical field, particularly in switchgear and maintenance.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Must have own transport.
