About the position
Estimator – Freight Forwarding - Umhlanga
We are looking for a detail-oriented Estimator with strong freight forwarding and customs knowledge to join our team. This role is key in preparing accurate and competitive quotations for air, sea, and road freight shipments, ensuring compliance with SARS, ITAC, IMDG, and international trade regulations. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years’ experience in freight/logistics estimating and a proven ability to balance cost-efficiency with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate estimates across all transport modes (air, sea, road).
- Factor in warehousing, documentation, customs, and regulatory costs.
- Ensure compliance with SARS, ITAC, DOT, and IMDG Code.
- Analyze shipment options to provide cost-effective and compliant solutions.
- Liaise with carriers, service providers, and internal teams for updated rates.
- Maintain a database of rates, tariffs, and historical benchmarks.
- Support sales with advisory input on routes, risks, and customs implications.
Requirements
- Supply chain qualification.
- 3–5 years’ experience in freight forwarding, estimating, or quotations.
- Strong knowledge of incoterms, HS codes, IMDG, and customs procedures.
- Skilled in MS Excel and logistics software (CargoWise, ShipShape, etc.).
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure with accuracy and attention to detail.
