About the position

• Key roles and Responsibilities

Policy & Planning

Assist management in developing, implementing, and reviewing the Environmental Policy.
Identify and assess environmental aspects and impacts of activities, products, and services.
Ensure compliance with legal and other requirements (permits, licenses, regulations).
Participate in setting environmental objectives, targets, and programs.

Implementation & Operation
Develop and maintain environmental management procedures.
Train employees and contractors on environmental awareness and responsibilities.
Promote waste minimisation, resource efficiency, energy conservation, and pollution prevention.
Ensure proper use and maintenance of environmental controls (e.g., spill kits, waste segregation).
Monitor contractors and suppliers for compliance with EMS requirements.
Communication & Documentation

Maintain and update EMS documentation (manuals, registers, aspect-impact assessments).
Facilitate internal communication on environmental issues and raise awareness.
Act as the contact person for regulators, auditors, and stakeholders.
Ensure document control in line with ISO 14001 requirements.

Desired Skills:

• - NEBOSH Environmental Certificate
• SACNASP

Desired Work Experience:

• 2 to 5 years

• Degree

About The Employer:

- Monitoring & Measurement

Conduct environmental monitoring and inspections (waste, emissions, noise, water, energy use).
Maintain records of compliance (waste manifests, emissions reports, water quality tests).
Track performance against environmental objectives and targets.
Maintain and update legal register to ensure compliance.

Evaluation & Auditing

Carry out internal EMS audits in line with ISO 14001 audit schedule.
Report non-conformities and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
Support management reviews by providing performance data and audit results.

Emergency Preparedness & Response

Develop and test emergency response plans (spills, fires, hazardous material releases).
Ensure emergency equipment (spill kits, PPE, fire extinguishers) is available and functional.
Conduct drills and train employees on emergency procedures.

Continual Improvement

Identify opportunities for improving environmental performance.
Support initiatives for sustainability, carbon reduction, and circular economy.
Ensure the organisation's EMS is aligned with ISO 14001 continual improvement principles.

Required qualifications
BSc in Environmental Science Management
National Diploma in Environmental management
NEBOSH Environmental Certificate

Professional Registration
South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP)
