Enrolled Nurse

About the position

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Enrolled Nurse to join a healthcare and laboratory environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for accurate patient and specimen collection while maintaining high standards of patient care, safety, quality and compliance.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Confirm patient identity and verify test requests.
• Explain specimen collection procedures to patients.
• Perform venepuncture and collect specimens accurately.
• Ensure the correct specimen tubes are used.
• Correctly label and handle specimens.
• Maintain specimen integrity and minimise specimen rejection.
• Ensure timely transportation of specimens.
• Identify and report unsuitable specimens.
• Follow infection control and PPE requirements.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and accurate collection records.
• Monitor consumables and report stock shortages.
• Maintain equipment and participate in quality assurance processes.
• Provide professional and patient-focused service.

Requirements

• SANC registration as an Enrolled Nurse.
• Recognised Phlebotomy qualification/training.
• Minimum 2 years' relevant phlebotomy experience.
• Competent in venepuncture.
• Relevant registration/accreditation.
• Strong patient service and communication skills.
• PHC or laboratory experience is highly preferred.
