About the position
Our client in the private healthcare sector has vacancies available for skilled Enrolled Nurses to support patient care within their facility
Key Responsibilities
- Manage patient admissions and oversee general ward administration
- Maintain accurate patient records and report to the Professional Nurse (PN), Unit Manager, Night Supervisor, or attending doctor
- Charge and account for consumables and ward stock
- Provide guidance and training to nursing assistants, identifying individual training needs
- Adhere strictly to the facility’s uniform policy
- Report on/off duty with the Sister in Charge and ensure handover protocols are met before leaving the unit
- Comply with hospital policies, protocols, and guidelines at all times
- Attend mandatory in-service training and continuing education sessions
- Practice within the Enrolled Nurse scope of practice as regulated by the SANC Nursing Act, maintaining accountability and professional conduct
- Follow ward-specific procedures and ensure consistently safe and effective nursing care
- Assess, intervene, and monitor patients based on your observations and feedback from others
- Help sustain nursing standards and support in-service education for ward staff
- Contribute to infection prevention, health and safety procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as an Enrolled Nurse
- Prior experience working as an Enrolled Nurse—experience in a private hospital environment is an advantage
- Must be available for shift work, including after-hours cover as required
- Demonstrates understanding of basic infection prevention control (IPC) practices
