About the position
Provide hands-on nursing care and support to elderly residents in a retirement community, ensuring their comfort, safety, and dignity through professional and compassionate care.
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:
- Enrolled Nurse registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar environment (elderly care preferred)
- Compassionate and patient-focused approach
- Strong observation and communication skills
- Ability to follow care plans and clinical instructions accurately
- Proficiency in both English and Afrikaans
Key Performance Areas:
- Deliver basic nursing care including hygiene support, wound care, administering medication, and monitoring vital signs
- Assist in the development and execution of individualised care plans
- Monitor residents' conditions and report changes promptly to the Registered Nurse or Unit Manager
- Build respectful, caring relationships with residents and their families
- Ensure residents' dignity and comfort are maintained at all times
- Assist with admissions, discharges, and resident orientation
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date nursing records and documentation
- Support general facility operations such as infection control, safety, and cleanliness
- Work collaboratively with the wider care team, including healthcare workers and support staff
