About the position
Background:
- The Wits Reproductive Health and HIV Institute (Wits RHI) is a renowned African-led research institute that seeks solutions to Africa’s health challenges
- It is located within the University of the Witwatersrand and addresses some of the greatest public health concerns affecting our region, including HIV and its related problems, sexual and reproductive health, and vaccinology
Main purpose of the job:
- To conduct day-to-day study related activities with our clinical research team in the Tuberculous (TB) ward
Location:
- 7 Esselen Street, Hillbrow, Wits RHI Research Centre Clinical Research Site (CRS)
Key performance areas:
- Conduct QC of Informed Consent Forms (ICF) and related study documents
- Measure and record vital signs and observations of clients in source documents
- Conduct phlebotomy as required by protocol (study-specific)
- Conduct urine pregnancy testing according to protocol
- Conduct HIV testing and counselling as required
- Support doctors and other clinical staff members with delegated duties
- Complete Laboratory Request forms, according to study protocol
- Print, conduct quality checks, and ensure results are filed in participant binders for the doctors review
- Support with project filing as required
- Order stationery, ward stock and consumables for project in line with the project’s procurement process on at least a monthly basis
- Complete documentation with regard to HIV Testing and Counselling (HTC)
- Support quality control and quality assurance activities as required
Required minimum education and training:
- Qualified as an Enrolled Nurse
Required minimum work experience:
- At least 3 years of Nursing experience, preferably in TB, Infectious Diseases, or Clinical Research
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:
- Willing to work on a rotational shift basis (12 Hours), which will include night shifts
- Experience working in Clinical Trials
- Computer literacy
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Team Player
