?? Role Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Enrolled Nurse to join our elderly care facility, specialising in the care of residents living with dementia and related cognitive conditions. The successful candidate will provide high-quality nursing care and support to residents, ensuring their health, safety, dignity, and emotional well-being are maintained at all times.
The Enrolled Nurse will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver person-centred care tailored to the unique needs of each resident.
? Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to elderly residents, including those with dementia
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility
- Monitor and record vital signs and report any changes in condition
- Administer medications in accordance with scope of practice and facility policies
- Support residents with dementia-related behaviours such as confusion, agitation, and memory loss
- Maintain a safe, clean, and structured environment for residents
- Implement care plans as directed by the Registered Nurse
- Observe and report on residents' physical, emotional, and behavioural changes
- Assist with wound care and basic clinical procedures
- Ensure adherence to infection control and health & safety protocols
- Provide emotional support and reassurance to residents and their families
- Accurately complete documentation and patient records
- Participate in team meetings and ongoing training initiatives
?? Minimum Requirements
- Diploma or Certificate as an Enrolled Nurse (EN)
- Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
- Proven experience in elderly care or dementia care (preferred)
- Basic knowledge of geriatric nursing practices
- Understanding of dementia care and behavioural management techniques
