About the position
Our client is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary mining projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned engineering professional with extensive EPCM experience, strong mechanical engineering expertise, and proven knowledge of bulk material handling and conveyor systems. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions from concept through to commissioning and project close-out.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams across mining infrastructure projects.
- Manage engineering delivery through all project phases, including studies, detailed design, procurement support, construction, commissioning and handover.
- Provide technical governance for conveyor belt systems and bulk material handling infrastructure.
- Review engineering designs, calculations and technical deliverables to ensure compliance with project and industry standards.
- Coordinate engineering interfaces between design, procurement, construction and commissioning teams.
- Manage client relationships and serve as the primary engineering point of contact.
- Support project planning, scheduling, budgeting and change management activities.
- Participate in design reviews, constructability assessments, risk workshops and safety reviews.
- Provide technical support during procurement, supplier evaluations and construction activities.
- Contribute to proposals, tenders and business development initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
- BSc, BEng or BTech in Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional registration with ECSA as Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng is preferred.
- Project Management certification will be advantageous.
- 10-15 years' relevant mining engineering experience.
- At least 5 years' experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Extensive experience with conveyor systems, bulk material handling and mining infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of EPCM project delivery.
- Knowledge of South African and international engineering standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
