About the position
Junior Engineering Design Draughtsman | Somerset West
If you live in SolidWorks and enjoy seeing your drawings turn into real manufactured parts, this one's for you.
We're looking for a Junior Engineering Design Draughtsman to generate new 3D CAD drawings, support the design and development of components, and produce detailed manufacturing drawings.
You'll work closely with the General Manager, keep drawing control tight, and flag anomalies on customer-supplied drawings for review and correction.
What you'll be doing:
- Create new 3D CAD drawings and detail drawings for manufacturing
- Provide input into design and development of new components
- Run FEA to calculate stress and deflection on manufactured products
- Maintain drawing change history and revision control
- Support the Drawing Office Manager and provide technical assistance
- Spot improvement opportunities and help tighten processes
What we need:
- Diploma (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering
- SolidWorks proficiency
- Competent in FEA analysis
- 3 to 5 years draughting experience
- Strong attention to detail and a practical, improvement-minded approach
