Engineering Business Development Manager

About the position

A Durban based long established company who is expanding their operations is looking for a Business Development Manager for their Bulk liquids storage and handling division.

We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the business development process and drive efforts for successful outcomes.  The person should also be able to project manage ongoing projects.

This role requires a combination of technical knowledge and
commercial skills to act as a bridge between clients and the company, translating client needs into technical solutions and ensuring customer satisfaction while driving growth.
Requirements:

• An Engineering qualification and an MBA or marketing qualification (preferably)
• A strong understanding of engineering principles is essential to effectively communicate with clients and internal technical teams.
• Expertise in sales, marketing and business development is crucial for driving growth
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are needed for client interactions, presentations and internal communication
• The ability to build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Strong organisational and project management skills are required to oversee sales processes and ensure projects meet their goals.
• Proficient in negotiation of contracts and the ability to find creative solutions to meet client needs.

Key responsibilities:

Market analysis and strategy:

• Conduct market research to identify new markets, customer needs, and potential business opportunities.
• Develop and execute business and marketing strategies to increase market share and profitability.

Lead generation and client relations:

• Prospect for new clients, build relationships, and manage existing customer accounts.

Sales and negotiation:

• Prepare sales contracts and proposals, negotiate contract terms, and work with internal teams to create pricing strategies. 

Technical and project coordination:

• Act as a liaison between clients and internal departments like engineering and logistics.
• Use technical expertise to understand client challenges and propose tailored solutions.
• Project manage capital projects. 

Marketing and promotion:

• Organize and run marketing campaigns and prepare literature for new products.
• Attend conferences, trade shows, and industry events to promote the company.

Performance monitoring:

• Monitor sales, market trends, and competitor activity to report on performance and recommend strategy adjustments.
