Engine Assembler – Kimberley, Northern Cape
Role Overview
The Engine Assembler is a hands-on technical role responsible for assembling and testing diesel engines, with a strong focus on heavy-duty mining engines. The role requires a qualified Diesel Mechanic or Automotive Artisan with a minimum of 5 years’ diesel engine assembly experience, particularly on Deutz, Cummins, CAT, John Deere, and Perkins engines. The position forms the final quality control point, including fault finding and dyno testing, ensuring engines meet required quality and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble heavy-duty diesel engines and selected commercial vehicle engines.
- Inspect all components prior to assembly to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Perform troubleshooting, dyno testing, and final quality checks.
- Work closely with project coordinators and technicians to define scope of work.
- Compile technical input and reports to support customer quotations.
- Identify required parts and request orders timeously.
- Maintain quality standards, deadlines, and efficient workflow within a team environment.
Minimum Requirements
- N2 with trade-related subjects or 5 years’ experience as a qualified Artisan.
- Recognised Trade Test in Diesel Mechanic, Automotive Machinist, or similar.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in diesel engine assembly.
- Hands-on experience with Deutz, Cummins, CAT, John Deere, and Perkins engines.
- Proficient in Afrikaans and English.
- Based in Kimberley or willing to relocate.
- Willing to work overtime when operationally required.
