Embedded Architect - Centurion (Irene)

About the position

Our client is seeking an experienced Embedded Architect to take a hands-on technical leadership role in the design and delivery of sophisticated embedded systems. This onsite opportunity is suited to an engineer who combines strong embedded C/C++ capability with proven experience taking products from concept through to production and field deployment.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and drive embedded system architecture across hardware and software components.
• Lead the design, development and integration of embedded systems.
• Remain hands-on with embedded C/C++ development and technical problem-solving.
• Support hardware bring-up, system integration, testing and debugging.
• Guide products through certification, production readiness and volume manufacturing.
• Provide technical leadership across embedded engineering activities.
• Collaborate with engineering, suppliers and certification stakeholders to resolve technical challenges.
• Support vehicle testing and field deployment activities when required.
• Contribute to architecture decisions, technical specifications and product development standards.

Minimum Requirements

• Completed BEng or BSc (Eng) in Electronic, Computer or Electrical Engineering from a credible South African or international tertiary institution.
• South African qualifications must be ECSA-accredited.
• International qualifications must be from an institution whose engineering programmes are Washington Accord accredited or equivalent.
• Foreign qualifications require a SAQA evaluation.
• 6-8 years' post-graduate experience in embedded systems design and development.
• At least 3 years' experience in a senior, lead or architecture capacity.
• Demonstrable involvement in taking at least two embedded products from concept through to volume production, including hardware bring-up, certification and field deployment.
• Current, hands-on proficiency in embedded C or C++.
• A valid driver's licence.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for vehicle testing, supplier engagements and certification activities.
• Clear criminal and credit record, subject to verification.
• South African citizenship is required.
