About the position
A well-established business is seeking to appoint an Electronics Technologist
The role is integral to supporting the Telescope Operations (TOPS) technical team, providing critical electronics expertise,
including electronics support and repairs for astronomical instruments, telescopes and systems, fault-finding and repairs, leading the technical efforts of the TOPS team.
To keep the Sutherland site running smoothly, and coordinating TOPS technical efforts at Sutherland, including in installing, testing, repairing and maintaining electronic systems used on the astronomical research telescopes
Qualification:
- M-Tech in Electronics or Mechatronics with atleast 7 years of relevant experience
- B-Tech in Electronics or Mechatronics with atleast 10 years of relevant experience
- Valid Driver's license
Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years practical experience in relevant electronics engineering or high-tech environment
Knowledge:
- Practical experience in engineering systems, processes, and their application within a complex and multi-disciplinary environment
- Basic PLC programming experience
- Electronics fault-finding, diagnosis and analysis
- Electronics hardware assembly, integration and testing
- Knowledge of microcontroller programming and software development
- Familiarity with electrical wiring
