About the position

Postion Summary:
Part of the Electronics team responsible for the development of novel electronics components, modules, subsystems and systems to further the goals of the South African Radio Astronomy Observatory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setting up and conducting electronic tests and experiments
  • Assembling, soldering, and modifying circuit boards and prototypes
  • Troubleshooting and repairing electronic equipment
  • Operating and maintaining lab instruments (oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, etc
  • )
  • Documenting test results and preparing reports
  • Ensuring lab safety procedures are followed
  • Assisting engineers in research, development, and quality control

Minimum Qualification:
  • Diploma / Advanced Certificate / NQF 6

Minimum Experience:
  • 5-6 years
  • ND (Electrical/Electronic Engineering)5 years’ experience in electronics development environmentValid Driver’s licence

Experience:
  • Hardware EngineeringTesting and troubleshooting of electronicsAn electronics lab environmentSupply Chain Management in PFMA environment
  • Configuration management

Knowledge:
  • ElectronicsRadio Astronomy InstrumentationHardware Design and TestingPCB DesignBasic programmingAssembly and soldering
