Our client, a leading Manufacturing company based in Port Shepstone, is looking to fill the position of Electrical Team Leader.
Purpose of the Role:
The position reports to the Electrical Engineer. The purpose of the job involves assisting the Electrical Engineer in managing the electrical team to complete projects efficiently, safely, and to standards. It also includes leading and motivating team members, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Breakdown Analysis:
- Breakdowns are fully investigated and reported.
- Serious deviations are reported to electrical engineer promptly.
- Action plans in case of major breakdowns are thoroughly prepared and discussed /
- Documented investigation reports of all breakdowns.
Electrical Modifications:
- Modifications to be implemented with the express purpose of improving productivity / profitability of the operation as a whole.
- Authority has been obtained before implementation.
- Modifications must not interrupt planned maintenance work.
- Modifications to be completed within approved budgets.
- Documented modifications to be implemented.
- Documented approval for the implementation of modifications.
Preventative Maintenance:
- Ensure acceptable plant reliability in the short and long term.
- Maintenance schedules exist and are kept up to date.
- Scheduled work is carried out timeously.
- High standard of workmanship.
- Ensure availability of critical spares.
- Planned job observations conducted on a regular basis.
SAP MRP System:
- Keep the following to acceptable limits:
- Overall late works orders.
- Notifications without works orders.
- Open notifications closed orders.
- SHE late works orders.
- Orders confirmed but not technically complete.
Safety & Compliance:
- Manage and support SHE initiatives to achieve company SHE objectives.
- Build commitment to sustain improvements in safety initiatives.
- Ensure compliance of company safety requirements.
- Ensure all safety investigations and inspections are completed.
- Ensure that all new electrical installations have certificates of compliance.
People Management & Development:
- In line with Company requirements ensure that people under one's leadership:
- Are properly recruited, on-boarded and inducted.
- Have meaningful job descriptions.
- Performance is managed and performance reviews are conducted and documented at least once a year, with proof of reviews are submitted to HR.
- Have performance improvement plans, documented training plans and are trained and developed to meet the required competencies of the job on an ongoing basis.
- Are engaged in a co-ordinated internal communication.
- Have activity deadlines.
- Work is quality controlled.
Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with relevant legal prescriptions and constraints.
- Ensure compliance with company policy and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with company, statutory and legal requirements by studying and understanding requirements.
- Ensure compliance with SHEQ.
- Enforcing adherence to requirements.
- Advising management on any needed actions.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Matric/Grade 12 with Mathematics
- Trade-Tested Electrician
- At least 5 years' experience as an Electrical Team Leader / Foreman or Site Supervisor in construction
- Proven track record managing large teams
- Valid driver's license and own transport
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Fluent in English (reading and writing)
- Able to read Drawings and work out Bill of Quantities
- Experience in SAP MRP System
- Must be Computer Literate (Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook).
Advantageous:
- Wireman's License or ability to sign off CoCs
- Experience with PV (solar) installations
- Familiarity with construction management software and site reporting tools
- Experience with fault-find the PLC systems
