Job Summary:
Ukhozi Consulting Engineers is seeking a motivated and skilled Electrical Engineer with
3-5 years of experience to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of projects across different sectors, contributing to the design, development, and implementation of innovative electrical engineering solutions. Responsibilities:
- Participate in the design and development of electrical systems for diverse projects including building services, power generation and reticulation, industrial installations, and other related areas.
- Prepare detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications using computer-assisted engineering and design software (e.g., AutoCAD).
- Conduct feasibility studies and contribute to project planning and cost estimations.
- Perform calculations and analyses related to electrical loads, power distribution, lighting, and earthing.
- Ensure that designs comply with relevant safety regulations and industry standards (e.g., OHS Act and Regulations).
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (civil, structural, mechanical) and project stakeholders to ensure seamless project integration.
- Conduct site inspections and oversee the installation and testing of electrical systems.
- Analyze test data and prepare technical reports.
- Assist in the preparation of tender documents and specifications.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and provide technical support.
- Stay updated with the latest technological advancements and best practices in electrical engineering.
- Attend project meetings and provide progress updates.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Technology (B Tech) or Bachelor of Engineering (B Eng) degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Professional registration or eligibility for registration with the relevant engineering council in South Africa will be advantageous.
- Valid driver's license.
Skills:
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices.
- Proficiency in using electrical design software such as AutoCAD.
- Sound mathematical and analytical skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Knowledge of relevant South African National Standards (SANS) and other applicable regulations.
- Familiarity with computer operating systems, hardware, and software.
Experience:
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering within a consulting or contracting environment.
- Experience working on building services, power distribution, or industrial projects will be advantageous.
