Electrical Engineer

About the position

Prominent multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy has a vacancy for an Electrical Engineer to join the team based at their Durban office. Candidates must have a background in industrial and infrastructure projects in the private and government sectors and will be overseeing various projects in South Africa.

Requirements:

• Electrical Engineering BEng/BSC Degree or BTech qualification
• 7-10 years previous electrical engineering experience in industrial and infrastructure projects in the private and government sectors (a proven track record must accompany CV submissions)
• ECSA registered as a Professional Engineer or Technologist
• Greenfields and brownfields plant design and construction experience
• Be able to work and embrace team culture with fellow peers across the various divisions.
• Provide mentorship to students and graduates
• DigSilent/ETAP Loadflow/Fault Study Modelling would be advantageous

Responsibilities:

• Perform and oversee electrical engineering activities for various industrial projects in the private and government sectors to safely deliver on all company operational plans during the project execution phase;
• Engineering design in accordance with established standards and codes of practice;
• Reviewing technical documentation and defining electrical engineering requirements;
• Carrying out technical evaluations, preparation of specifications for electrical infrastructure and installations;
• Carry out feasibility and electrical power system studies;
• Attend factory acceptance tests and provide input to vendor’s test documentation.
• Manage and assist with plant electrical equipment and system installation and commissioning;
• Accountability for quality, risk management, financial performance, scope management and client satisfaction in all project undertaken
• Liaise with the client to ensure that agreed designs are in accordance with agreed requirements;
• Representation at client and professional meetings with the ability to present work and engage in a technical conversations in a professional manner;

• Permanent contract
• Based out of Durban, KZN with regular travel into South Africa
