Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering
- Lead the design and development of electrical substations from concept to commissioning
- Perform heavy current electrical system design and analysis
- Develop electrical reticulation schemes for industrial and commercial applications
- Create detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications
- Conduct load flow analysis, short circuit studies, and protection coordination studies
Project Management
- Oversee substation construction projects from inception to completion
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, mechanical, and instrumentation engineers
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and quality deliverables
- Interface with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities
Technical Leadership
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians
- Review and approve electrical designs and calculations
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and safety regulations
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices
Quality Assurance
- Conduct design reviews and technical audits
- Ensure all work meets SANS, IEC, and IEEE standards
- Oversee testing and commissioning of electrical installations
