About the position

Postion Summary:
To Manage and implement all activities pertaining to the Training Centre operations taking cognizance of applicable legislation, industry best practices and quality of work

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and valuable inputs in the establishment of the new training centre
  • Plan, implement and facilitate accreditation of the training centre with the relevant governing bodies
  • Plan, manage, implement and evaluate all activities related to training of students at the training centre
  • Organise, coordinate and prepare all the equipment and training aids such as learner guides, manuals, handbooks, practical to ensure the alignment of all training material with all relevant quality and accreditation authorities’ requirements
  • Provide practical training to students in accordance with relevant Acts, SAQA, QCTO and NAMB requirements
  • Plan, prepare, organise and manage students work placement with external stakeholders for their work integrated learning and ensure adherence to all requirements
  • Build and maintain good relation with all internal and external partners
  • Plan, organise, furnish and maintain all equipment related to the training centre, offices and workshops
  • Ensure that the requirements of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality, as well as the relevant Health and Safety Legislation and accompanying regulations, rules and policies are adhering to
  • Manage, implement and maintain all the allocated resources in the workshop and classroom to ensure that site, equipment, machines and tools used for training purposes are looked after and maintained cost-effectively in safe working order
  • Plans, organize, facilitates and order equipment and supplies for training events and training development
  • Develop new training equipment if needed
  • Manage allocated budgetEnsure ongoing couching, mentoring, development and skills transfer to the EDT Officer Provide constructive feedback to the students and also provide an opportunity to the students to give feedback about the whole process of training and assessment
  • Provide support and guidance to the students prior, during and post training to ensure that any learning barriers that might be there are dealt with and corrective action implemented where required

Minimum Qualification:
  • Grade 12 / Senior Certificate / National Certificate / Vocational 4 /N3 N4 N5/ NQF 4

Minimum Experience:
  • 8-8 years
  • Qualified artisan (NQF level 5) in Electrical with Red SealNational Technical Certificate (N4)Valid assessor and moderator registrationsWireman's License AdvantageousMinimum 8 years’ industry experience
  • Minimum 5 years technical training experience

Experience:
  • Experience in the development and maintenance of workshops and training equipment

Knowledge:
  • Training Centre Development and Operations Management
  • Identifying training needs and requirements
  • Quality output using ETD resources
  • Experience in artisan development Knowledge of Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental practices
  • Compilation and recording of Portfolio of EvidenceFinancial and Academic Management
  • Development of course material in accordance with national standards
  • Knowledge of academic policies and procedures complianceKnowledge of accreditation requirements, QMS as well as ISO
  • QCTO programme knowledgeFull understanding of the processes involved in training of artisansETD specific knowledgeISO 9001 understandingKnowledge of the SETA/ NSF funding landscape
