About the position

Driver Trainer

Responsibilities:

  • Assess new and existing drivers.
  • Conduct training sessions (soft skills and lifting equipment) according to the drawn schedules.
  • Communicate training schedules to managers and ensure adherence.
  • Conduct coaching sessions with drivers to improve competency.
  • Conduct on-route assessments of drivers.
  • Ensure drivers licenses and PrDPs are valid and up to date.
  • Ensure attendance registers are completed and correctly filed.
  • Keep driver files updated on the learner management system.
  • Provide feedback to stakeholders regarding driver assessments conducted.
  • Capture and update data on internal systems.
  • Facilitate training interventions linked to the TETA scope.
  • Assess learners fairly, consistently, and accurately in line with TETA requirements.
  • Use understandable language and provide support where needed.
  • Conduct site audits and route inspections to ensure vehicle standards and assist with vehicle dispatching.
  • Assist in relevant operational functions as required.
  • Maintain professional conduct at all times.
  • Adhere to the company dress code as per Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards daily.
  • Ensure health and safety standards are upheld.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent
  • Code EC driver's license with valid PrDP
  • TETA registered Assessor
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Code EC driver
  • Proven experience as a driving instructor
  • Clear driving record
  • Clear criminal record
  • Experience and competency in the following unit standards:
    • Operating vehicle combination (Superlink and Articulated vehicles)
    • Operating rigid heavy vehicles
    • Operating rigid light vehicles
    • Dangerous goods
    • Warehouse lifting equipment
    • Firefighting
