About the position

Introduction

To deliver a wide range of goods to various customers grouped into a route or trip, with the help of the Van Assistant.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for completing daily vehicle checklist and reporting any defects to management immediately
• Responsible for the cleanliness and safe driving of trucks in line with the Road Traffic Act
• Ensured the safety of goods in transit and deliver at the scheduled destination, and for overseeing the efficient delivery of products, as per Trackmatic route sheet and instructions
• Action all delivery point through the Trackmatic delivery app to accurately measure TAT and record KM between trips
• Complied with all company's trucking regulations and government road and trucking regulations
• Responsible for all necessary daily paperwork and signatures required on invoices and other documents
• Maintained constant communication with the dispatch office regarding traffic issues, customer related delays and shortages found at delivery point
• Takes full Responsibilities for all stock loaded and off loaded
• Completion of route pack as per department processes
• Responsible for returning all extra products, returned products and damaged products to relevant department with accurate reasoning for the returns
• Responsible for the safeguarding of company assets by following Truck safety policies and ensuring the vehicles is locked and secured at each stop
• Execute instructions as directed from the Distribution Department and management
• Ensure the vehicle is filled up with fuel at the required fuel stations indicated by your distribution department before returning to the Depot
• Ensure all fuel transactions slips is returned at debriefing point
• Ensure that stock is transported in line with food health and safety standards
• Ensure temperature requirements is always met when delivering, refrigerates, chilled and ambient goods

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Senior Certificate/Grade 12
• Holding a valid Code 14 Drivers license for +5 years with clearance on validated Professional drivers Permit (PrDP)

• Good driving skills and record to match

• At least 2 years' experience in a FMCG environment
• 5+ years' experience in trucking and delivery services
• Numeracy and literacy skills
• Good communication skills - Sufficient education to read and write
• Proven ability to use maps and GPS system to chart routes and locate places
• Knowledge of health and safety
• Ability to obey instructions and comply with all company standards
• Honest and reliable
• Ability to deal with complaints
