Draughtsman

About the position

Well established company on the East Rand seeks a Draughtsman from heavy manufacturing industry with Solidworks experience
Minimum Requirements 
1 Engineering Drawing and Design
The Draftsman shall:

• Produce detailed engineering and manufacturing drawings.
• Prepare general arrangement (GA) drawings.
• Develop fabrication and assembly drawings.
• Produce component and part drawings.
• Prepare machining drawings with relevant tolerances and dimensions.
• Develop hydraulic, mechanical, structural, and fabrication drawings where required.
• Convert concepts, sketches, samples, and existing components into detailed technical drawings.
• Prepare 3D CAD Solid works models.
• Update and revise existing engineering drawings.
• Ensure drawings are clear, accurate, and suitable for manufacturing.

2 Manufacturing Support
The Draftsman shall support the manufacturing and repair departments by:

• Providing accurate drawings to the workshop.
• Clarifying technical drawing requirements with artisans and supervisors.
• Assisting with component identification and measurement.
• Conducting physical measurements of existing components where required.
• Producing drawings for reverse engineering purposes.
• Preparing bills of materials (BOMs).
• Assisting with material specifications.
• Identifying critical dimensions and tolerances.
• Supporting manufacturing planning through technical documentation.

3 Mining Equipment and Engineering Components
Where applicable, the Draftsman may be required to prepare drawings for:

• LHD machines and mining equipment.
• Machine frames and structural components.
• Buckets and attachments.
• Engine frames and mounting structures.
• Hydraulic cylinders and hydraulic components.
• Axles and drivetrain components.
• Brake systems and assemblies.
• Tanks, piping, and fabricated components.
• Welding and structural steel assemblies.
• Repair and modification components.

 

• DRAWING CONTROL AND DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT

The Draftsman shall:

• Maintain control of engineering drawings.
• Allocate drawing numbers in accordance with the company's document control system.
• Maintain drawing revision histories.
• Ensure obsolete drawings are removed from circulation.
• Issue controlled drawings to relevant departments.
• Maintain electronic copies and backups of drawings.
• Ensure drawings are approved before release for manufacturing.
• Maintain a drawing register.
• Ensure revision changes are clearly identified.
