About the position
Our client, a leading manufacturer within the South African automotive sector, is seeking a skilled Draughtsman to join their dynamic team at their plant in Pretoria West. The ideal candidate will be responsible for producing detailed technical drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks, playing a critical role in the design and manufacturing process for heavy vehicles.
Essential Experience:
- We will only consider candidates with a background in buses, minibuses, trucks, trailers, or other Original Heavy Vehicle Manufacturing (OHM)
- National Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting Technology, or a related field
- 3-5 years of experience as a Draughtsman within the relevant automotive manufacturing industry
- High proficiency in SolidWorks
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and revise detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings and models using SolidWorks
- Interpret engineering specifications for vehicle structures, including frames, chassis, cladding, and electrical diagrams
- Prepare comprehensive layout, assembly, and part drawings for various components
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure design accuracy and manufacturability
- Ensure all drawings comply with relevant industry standards (SABS, ISO, OEM, NCRS)
