About the Company

Our client is a well-established Destination Management Company delivering tailored FIT and group travel solutions. They are currently expanding their South Africa portfolio and are seeking an experienced DMC Travel Manager to lead and optimise local operations with a strong focus on service excellence, profitability, and supplier partnerships.

Role Overview

The DMC Travel Manager - South Africa will have full ownership of South Africa travel operations, overseeing FIT and group business from quotation through execution. This role requires deep destination expertise, strong commercial acumen, and proven leadership within a DMC environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end management of FIT and group travel operations for South Africa
  • Review, approve, and optimise quotations, costing, and margins
  • Act as the senior escalation point for complex operational and service issues
  • Build, negotiate, and manage supplier contracts (hotels, lodges, transport, experiences)
  • Lead, mentor, and coordinate quotation and operations teams
  • Ensure quality control, compliance, and seamless delivery of confirmed itineraries
  • Drive product development, market intelligence, and destination innovation
  • Track performance metrics, conversion ratios, revenue, and margins

Key Requirements

  • 6-10+ years' experience within a DMC environment, with South Africa specialization mandatory
  • Strong experience managing FIT and group travel operations
  • Proven leadership and team management capability
  • Excellent costing, budgeting, and commercial skills
  • Strong supplier negotiation and relationship management experience
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage pressure and deadlines
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and DMC / costing systems
