Divisional Supply Chain Manager

About the position

An exciting opportunity exists for a seasoned Supply Chain professional to manage the centralised supply chain distribution function for a large wholesaler in Gauteng.

Responsibilities:

• Develop strategy and implementation of improved supply chain processes
• Management of a centralized distribution supply chain structure
• Driving efficiencies throughout the distribution network
• Custodian of internal controls at the distribution centre
• Ensure that the current organization structures, facilities, systems, and procedures for Supply Chain and Inventory management are aligned with the business strategy across the entire company
• Driving efficiencies of stock movement and distribution throughout the branch network while maintaining adequate stock levels to avoid stock outs and lost sales
• Establish a complete categorization of a "SKU" to determine the ideal stocking profiles in each of the Branches
• Management of 3rd party SLA to manage 3rd party service providers for the inbound /outbound movement of stock
• Forecast demand, monitor forecasts to ensure availability of products
• Develop capability to support the importing and exporting of stock on both a project and stocking requirement basis
• Reduction of overall stock holding while maintaining agreed upon on time in full (OTIF) percentage to branches and customers
• Development of Warehouse management, leadership, and management capabilities
• Establishing distribution 'costs to serve' for customers and supporting regional managers with information for decision-making
• Manage all aspects of fleet acquisition & disposal, including running cost analysis and reporting
• Ensure all relevant legislation is abided and complied with
• Support growth in branch footprint by assisting with supply chain expertise

Requirements:

• Degree in Management, Procurement Logistics, Supply chain or similar
• 8-10 Years experience in Supply Chain Management with 3 years at a Senior Level
• Prior experience in implementing a centralised supply chain which includes Warehouse, DC and logistics functions and Systems (WMS)
• Strategic Thinking
• Proven Business and Financial acumen (extensive financial understanding and knowledge)
• Good people person with a track record of managing, mentoring, directing and monitoring staff
• Customer service driven attitude
• Good understanding of IT systems and implementation
• Ability to work in pressured and deadline-driven environment
• Must be able to work well in a team
