About the position

A well-known water treatment solutions company requires the above to manage and drive a sales and technical team at customer sites within the industrial, municipal, commercial, and institutional water treatment markets, ensuring that the company achieves the revenue, profitability, and market share objectives aligned with the company’s portfolio of water treatment chemistry, design, and equipment offerings.
Minimum requirements for the role:

  • A tertiary qualification in either chemistry or chemical engineering or environmental science, or a related field is preferred but not essential.
  • Previous experience having worked within the water treatment or related industry is essential for the role.
  • Previous experience having worked in a managerial role is preferred but not essential as long as the person has the ability to drive and lead a team of sales and service staff.
  • Previous experience having worked within the boiler and cooling, potable; clarification; effluent, and related water industries is pref.
  • Demonstrated success in managing multi-disciplinary sales teams and achieving sales targets.
  • Technical knowledge of water treatment processes, chemistry, and equipment (boiler, cooling, wastewater, reverse osmosis, etc.).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing and driving a sales and technical team at customer sites within the industrial, municipal, commercial, and institutional water treatment markets, ensuring that the company achieves the revenue, profitability, and market share objectives aligned with the company’s portfolio of water treatment chemistry, design, and equipment offerings.
  • Preparing and achieving regional sales budgets. Responsible for achieving budgeted sales and profit plan and responsible for the sales and servicing of customers.
  • Accompanying sales and service staff when visiting all strategic and major accounts in your region, in order to ascertain account status.
  • Training, coaching and motivation of all staff members in the region.
  • Supplying your direct manager with a monthly regional report outlining the regions activities, sales results and opposition activities.
  • Analysing, evaluating and reviewing progress goals and if necessary, change sales strategies and/or plans with the approval of your senior manager.
  • Attending sales, technical and customer conferences, exhibitions and meetings, join professional societies in order to stay abreast of market/industry developments.
  • Develop and implement district sales strategies aligned with regional and national objectives.
  • Lead the district to meet or exceed sales targets for water treatment chemicals, systems, and equipment.
  • Provide expert technical support and problem-solving for complex water treatment challenges.
  • Conduct client visits, presentations, and negotiations to support long-term partnerships.
  • Ensuring timely resolution of client issues and service delivery excellence.
  • Directing and controlling regions expenses budget and sales forecast in all technical categories as well as the regions product stock holdings.
  • Staying abreast of each individual’s performance and potential, recognising and developing the talent of each individual and conduct bi-annual performance appraisal reviews.

Salary package, including benefits, is highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
