Introduction
Established in 1995, this first class facility produces dry and frozen bakery products including Tubeset, muffin batters, croissants, cinnamon scrolls, place and bake frozen preformed cookies, frozen pizzas, dry bakery mixes and ready-to-eat muffins, as well as frozen pies.
Through the offering of innovative products, combined with convenience and ease of preparation, this business has become the preferred supplier and leader in muffins to the South African food service market.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The dispatching of products efficiently from the factory to offsite storage or customers.
- Co-ordinating efficient flow of products.
- Ensuring security procedures are followed and stock loss is minimized.
- Ensuring that stock / products are stored correctly (good housekeeping).
- Strategically manage warehouse in compliance with company's policies and vision.
- Setup layout and ensure efficient space utilization.
- Initiate, coordinate, and enforce optimal operational policies and procedures.
- Adhere to all warehousing, handling, and shipping legislation requirements.
- Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene, and security.
- Manage stock control and reconcile with data storage system both on site and at the 3 rd Party Logistics distributor.
- Manage fleet of own vehicles.
- Plan work rosters, assign tasks appropriately and appraise results.
- Recruit, select, orient, coach and motivate employees.
- Produce reports and statistics regularly (IN/OUT status report, dead stock report etc.).
- Receive feedback and monitor the quality of services provided.
- Plan Truck routes to ensure cost and time savings.
- Monitor and control of Drivers.
- Daily feedback and reporting to management.
- Develop a zero-tolerance approach in internal rejections.
- Adhering to internal departmental performance requirements targets and quality standards as determined by Management.
- Able to work in a cold environment.
- Participate in and support company's food safety and quality objectives.
- Report all problems with food safety to the QA manager who will initiate and record actions.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Matric
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Warehousing / Logistics / Supply Chain
- Valid Drivers' License
- Valid Forklift / Lift truck License
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly in Excel
- Minimum 5 years' experience in logistics or supply chain within a manufacturing environment.
- Food Manufacturing experience
- Must have experience in dispatch and product knowledge in the manufacturing industry.
- Strong people / customer services skills
- Previous team management experience is required.
- Knowledge of Syspro
- Knowledge of Food Safety Principles
- Knowledge of Chep processes
- Knowledge of industrial Relations and practices
