The Role:
Seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Dispatch Controller and Planner to join the operations team. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the effective planning, coordination, and dispatching of goods movements, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and schedule daily goods dispatches, optimizing routes and resources.
- Allocate drivers and vehicles to specific jobs, considering factors such as load size, delivery timelines, and geographical locations.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, providing clear instructions and updates.
- Monitor the progress of dispatches and proactively address any potential delays or issues.
- Maintain accurate dispatch records and documentation.
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding shipment status and delivery schedules.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as customer service and warehouse operations, to ensure seamless goods flow.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations and safety standards.
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement in dispatch operations.
Requirements:
- Matric (Grade 12) certificate is essential.
- Proven experience in a dispatch or transport planning role within the logistics or transportation industry is highly advantageous.
- Strong geographical knowledge of [mention relevant areas, e.g., Gauteng and surrounding provinces].
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in using dispatch software and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
- A proactive and problem-solving approach.
- Valid driver's license is preferred.
