Diesel Mechanic

About the position

A well-established company on the East Rand is looking for a Diesel and Generator Mechanic to join their team!
Requirements

• 2 – 5 years of experience with diesel engines and generator systems
• Matric or equivalent qualification
• Learnership or Trade Qualification advantageous
• Experience with Diesel Engines and Generators
• Valid driver’s license
• Strong understanding of engine components, fuel systems, and electrical systems
• Skilled with diagnostic tools and repair equipment

Duties

• Install, maintain and repair diesel-powered generators and engines
• Perform preventive maintenance and regular inspections on generators and diesel engines
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and fuel system issues
• Repair or replace defective parts in engines and generators using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment
• Rebuild engines and major components as necessary
• Perform load testing and monitor generator output
• Maintain service logs, repair records and parts inventory
• Ensure all repairs and maintenance comply with safety and environmental standards
• Communicate with clients or supervisors to coordinate service schedules and report issues
• Respond to emergency breakdowns and power outages when on-call
• Keep the work area clean, organized and safe
